    National Windrush Day Poetry Competition

To commemorate the arrival of the Empire Windrush on June 21st 1948, and to celebrate our Caribbean community in Brent, we are launching a whole school poetry competition.

All of you will have been set tasks from your teachers to research and learn about the Empire Windrush. We would like you to use these facts, or use the picture above as inspiration and write a poem about the Empire Windrush. You could imagine that you are a passenger on the ship arriving in England for the first time. What might you have seen on the journey? Who have you left behind? How do you feel now?
Your poem can rhyme, but it doesn’t have to. The deadline for your entry is Friday, 3rd July. Please e-mail them to your class teachers, or upload them to Seesaw. We look forward to reading your fantastic poems, and winners will be announced on Monday, 6th July.
