Spanish

At Chalkhill School all children learn Spanish with Mrs Mallek. They currently receive between 30 minutes and one hour of Spanish lessons per week. Throughout the year they enjoy workshops and activities in Spanish and a themed week in which the whole school takes part.

In June 2023 we celebrated Hispanic week at Chalkhill.

On Monday we looked at the Dominican Republic, Tuesday Mexico and Thursday Peru.

Here is what some pupils thought about the Latino week.

Children from Yr6:

Younes: “It was a very interesting dance, I really enjoyed doing it!”

Sumaya: “I really liked the vibrant colours of the outfits, it was a really good vibe.”

Kayden: “I enjoyed the unique music; it was really upbeat.”

Alishba: “The art was fantastic. It would have taken a lot of effort, preparation and dedication.”

Children from Yr3:

I thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the dance workshop during Latino week as it allowed me to  experience different forms of cultural dances from South America.

I thought the Mexican lunch we had in school was exceedingly scrumptious. The lunch consisted of a fresh salad with black beans, avocado, tomatoes and a splash of virgin olive oil and roasted wedges. I thought it would be spicy, but I was glad it wasn't, as I was able to enjoy the meal.
